Loveland, Col. — May 22, 2019 — On June 8, the City of Loveland will cut the ribbon on the beautiful new outdoor Fitness Court® at Fairgrounds Park, and be welcomed as the first community in the state to join the National Fitness Campaign to make world-class fitness free for all.
“The City of Loveland Parks and Recreation Department is excited to partner with UCHealth and the National Fitness Campaign to bring state of the art free fitness to our community,” said LeAnn Williams, Recreation Division Manager, City of Loveland. “It’s important to our Department that all citizens have inclusive access to health and wellness opportunities. The Fitness Court and the free programming that both UCHealth and the City of Loveland will provide is an incredible opportunity for all Lovelanders to take advantage of.”
Thanks to the generous support of UCHealth, Loveland has made the wellness of their citizens a priority, and now they are making fitness free — for everyone! The new Fitness Court® is an outdoor bodyweight circuit training facility designed to transform public spaces into community fitness hubs. Geared for adults of all ages and abilities, Colorado’s first Fitness Court is located at Fairgrounds Park, 700 S. Railroad Ave.
"Exercise is one of the most powerful tools we have when it comes to health. It can help prevent and treat so many chronic diseases, and it's good for your spirit and mind, too," said Dr. Peter Smith, a UCHealth internal medicine physician in Loveland. "We are thrilled to be a part of this project because it's going to inspire more people and families to move more and to have fun doing it."
The Loveland Fitness Court is part of a nationwide effort launched by National Fitness Campaign (NFC), and the City is teaming up with local ambassadors to connect their fitness community to free activities and experiences that encourage a healthy lifestyle.
“We're excited to bring our campaign to make world-class fitness free to Loveland,” said Mitch Menaged, Founder of National Fitness Campaign. “Together with city leaders and UCHealth, NFC is happy to be part of a wellness network growing across the nation. With funding to reach 1,000 cities and schools by 2020, our Fitness Courts, free mobile app, classes and clinics are building healthy habits for millions of people.”
The official unveiling will take place at the Fitness Court Launch Festival from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. June 8. The event will feature several free 35-minute full-body classes on the new outdoor Fitness Court, a competitive challenge, free giveaways, prizes and more. The launch-day classes are free, but space is limited, so advanced registration is recommended. To reserve a spot, visit https://bit.ly/2WWlHTR
